LX is a company that supplies art materials, focusing exclusively on the development, manufacture, and distribution of acrylic paints. In 1955, Permanent Pigments, a company founded by Henry Levinson, created the first water-based acrylic paint, along with the first acrylic gesso. That same year, Levinson decided to reorganize the company under the name “Liquitex”. In 1956, the company starting selling “Soft Body” acrylic paints. In 1963, “Heavy Body” paints were available with a thicker consistency. The company offers the largest number of acrylic paint products in the world.

LX was the first water-based acrylic paint created in 1955 and since then Liquitex has partnered with artists to ensure that the brand continually evolves and innovates –resulting in a long history of acrylic innovation. Liquitex offers the largest array of vibrant acrylic paints, mediums and tools to enable acrylic artists to continually explore their art and take it to new and unprecedented boundaries. With Liquitex’s innovative drive, the creative passion and the intense desire to share the joys of artistic expression through unparalleled education and community outreach programs, Liquitex is and will continue to be a strong partner to help artists explore their art for decades to come.

Reeves

Reeves is founded in 1766 and is the leader is school and university grade paint and artist materials around the world.

In 1766 William Reeves opened his first shop near St Paul’s Cathedral in Well Lane, Little Britain where he manufactured and sold his own paints. The business was doing so well that he took his older brother Thomas into partnership.

it was a family orientated business where William’s brothers, children and extended family all helped to give Reeves the quality reputation that it still holds today. However, it was the successful marketing of the Moist Watercolour Paint-Cake invented by William RVS, which placed RVS at the forefront of manufacturing artists’ materials.

Today we are passionate about art as Williams Reeves was when he established RVS in 1766. Our history of producing innovative artists’ materials is core to everything we do.

As the world’s leading supplier of Painting by Numbers and Scraperfoil we are proud to provide guidance to artists and make art accessible for all. Our ranges include products suited to children, crafters and artists.
